10 Lessons from 2020

For many of us, 2020 was a year of survival. From quarantining, and changing the kind of content I create (since travel wasn’t an option), to virtually vacating my apartment and figuring out different ways of making money, 2020 was quite a challenging year for me. But despite that, it’s been a year full of growth, blessings, and lots of lessons.

Today, I’m sharing with you some of my biggest lessons from 2020.

1. It’s okay (and necessary) to slow down. Being a workaholic isn’t something to be proud of, having balance in life is. You don’t need to be productive all the time, taking some time for yourself is not lazy or selfish.

2. I need a lot fewer things than I thought I did to be able to survive (for some context, I spent the first 5-6 months of lockdown without 95% of my stuff - from clothes to cameras and hard drives, everything was in my apartment in Mumbai while I was in Vellore).

3. Family and health (both physical and mental) are the most important things in life. Everything else is secondary.

4. Your mindset can make or break you. Having an attitude of gratitude can make you see every challenge through a lens of possibility, and the possibilities are endless! And sometimes, not getting what you thought you wanted ends up being a blessing in disguise, so trust that things always happen for a reason.

5. If you work hard, put in the work and remain patient yet optimistic, good things will eventually come your way, sooner or later.

6. Be present and live in the moment, life is passing you by while you’re mindlessly scrolling Instagram so learn to be mindful and more present. Mindfulness is seriously a superpower.

7. Everyone is dealing with their own battles so be kind to everyone. Just because someone has it better than you does not mean they don’t have their own set of problems to deal with. Be kind.

8. Being alone does not mean you’re lonely. Learn to enjoy your own company.

9. Your knowledge is your most valuable asset, and investing in your knowledge is the best investment you can make. Always keep learning.

10. Just because some people are choosing to/are able to travel during a pandemic doesn’t mean you have to. Everyone has different circumstances and priorities, do what feels right to you.

Like I mentioned, these are just some of my lessons, but I’d love to hear yours if you’d like to share so hit reply to this email and let me know :)

Once again, wishing you a very happy 2021 full of joy, good health, love and success. Let’s make this year our best one yet! :)
